Mark Ferbey, CEO, President

Mark is the son of Market Drugs Medical founders Borys and Gloria Ferbey. Mark was born in Edmonton, Alberta and raised in a Ukrainian bilingual household. After receiving his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Alberta in 1982, Mark joined his parents at Market Drugs Medical where he worked in the Home Health Care Division. His strengths in management and business development helped to foster the unique Pharmacy and Medical product company Market Drugs Medical is today. Ten years after graduation, Mark experienced one of his proudest moments when he and wife Lorraine purchased Market Drugs Medical in 1992. Along with three beautiful children, Mark’s legacy will undoubtedly be the innovative pharma-medical company that he has created in Market Drugs Medical.

Lorraine Ferbey, Controller

Lorraine began her career with Market Drugs Medical in 1985 following a year with Holt Renfrew in the fashion industry. Born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Lorraine received her Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Manitoba in 1984. Lorraine is the mother of three wonderful children and is an avid fan of their hockey and dance obsessions.

Son and current President of Market Drugs Medical, Mark Ferbey highly respects Borys’ experience and sagacity and has ensured that in the capacity of consultant, Borys remains a visible component of Market Drugs Medical. A pharmacist for 56 years, Borys keeps his mind nimble reading various medical and pharmaceutical magazines.

James Wu, Pharmacy Manager

Pharmacy Manager James Wu began his over 25 year career at Market Drugs Medical as a young apprentice learning the essence of community pharmacy practice in an ethnically diverse environment. Hired by Borys Ferbey fresh out of the University of Alberta Pharmacy program, James has matured to become a proud family man and a knowledgeable pharmacist. James’ degree may be in Pharmacy, however, he is extremely proficient in virtually all aspects of the modern pharma-medical company. From medical-surgical supplies and TENS to ostomy and urological products, James can help clients in many Health Care areas in English or Chinese. Despite working long hours with extreme dedication, James knows that at the end of the day the most important things in life are good health and the love of family.

Ron Marcinkoski, Compounding/ IV Pharmacist

Market Drugs Medical is honored to have talented Compounding/ IV Pharmacist Ron Marcinkoski as part of our team. Ron graduated from the University of Alberta in 1980. Ron began caring for palliative patients in 1991 and developed a community sterile products practice to make injections for home use. Sterile products are used for many types of therapies; erectile dysfunction, hydration, pain, iron-chelation and antibiotics - just to name a few. Ron also speaks Ukrainian and the little Japanese that he picked up while teaching English as a Second Language in that country. Though Ron has accomplished much, he is proudest of his marriage and children. He also still has a few things he would like to do: write a good book and travel to Egypt.

Marie has had an out of the ordinary experience with Market Drugs Medical; as a newly graduated pharmacist she worked one shift with us, then was re-hired part-time for two years (2000-2002) and in2005 became our third full-time pharmacist. Marie also speaks Polish, creating a pharmacy team that can help clients in five languages (Polish, Cantonese, Filipino, Ukrainian and English). Marie has three children all of whom are law abiding citizens.

Katrina is Market Drugs Medical's fourth and newest pharmacist having graduated from the University of Alberta in Spring 2010. Though Katrina has adapted well in her role as pharmacist, she has previously been employed at Market Drugs for several years as a summer student while completing her degree. Katrina is also kept busy outside of work; she has been a member of Edmonton's famous Shumka Dancers since 2006 and is active with CYMK, a nationwide Ukrainian youth organization, with which she has taken many posts including provincial president. As one would expect, Katrina is fluent in Ukrainian. Katrina will be kept increasingly busy within the next few months as she plans her upcoming wedding with fiancé Mikael.
